Between May 6–7, 2026, the Crișuri Water Basin Administration (ABA Crișuri) hosted in Oradea the 7th project meeting of DALIA – Danube Region Water Lighthouse Action.

Pilot Site 9, focuses on reducing pollution caused by floating waste in the Crișuri river basin, whose objective is the installation of three traps for PET bottles and floating waste on the Barcău River (in the locality of Hodoș), the Crișul Repede River (in the locality of Girișu de Criș), and the Crișul Negru River (in the locality of Zerind). The intervention aims to reduce pollution in the Romania–Hungary cross-border sector and protect water quality within the Crișuri river basin.
“For ABA Crișuri, the DALIA project means concrete action. We are implementing visible, on-the-ground solutions to reduce pollution caused by floating waste on the basin’s three main watercourses. PET bottle traps are a practical, efficient, and easily replicable measure, with a direct impact on water quality and the protection of cross-border areas. The meeting in Oradea allows us to align the results achieved with future directions for action together with our European partners,” said ABA Crișuri Director Pásztor Sándor.
By organizing this workshop, ABA Crișuri facilitates technical dialogue among specialists, research institutions, and water management authorities, with the aim of strengthening innovative solutions for protecting water resources and adapting to climate-related challenges.
