The DALIA project announces its Rivers Revived Call for Associated Regions winners!
Out of a total of 25 applications received 22 of which met eligibility criteria, 10 exceptional proposals have been chosen to support river and basin restoration initiatives across Europe
and beyond.

With a budget of €100,000, selected regions will be supported in using DALIA’s findings and expertise to develop strategic roadmaps, action plans, and projects for restoring river ecosystems in their areas. They will receive extensive scientific and technical assistance, customized to help tackle specific challenges and showcase the viability of innovative restoration methods. Each region will be paired with a comparable demonstration site to encourage mutual learning through structured knowledge-sharing sessions, interactive workshops, and a dedicated twinning platform. The participating regions will carry out a range of restoration activities such as enhancing ecological systems, ecosystem monitoring and repair, floodplain reconnection, improving river connectivity, rehydrating catchments, managing sediment, cleaning river litter, and linking ecosystems. These efforts will play a vital role in advancing the project's goal to align with the EU’s ambitions for ecosystem restoration.
About the project:
DALIA is a lighthouse project focusing on the Danube River basin and fresh water. As an Innovation Action, it supports the new EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030. For the next 3 years, 22 partners across Europe will be providing innovative freshwater solutions and demonstrations in the Danube River basin to improve water ecosystems and facilitate decision-making on water management issues.
